Services- Conventional Heating & AC
Customers today are very interested in the choices available in today’s market. They want to know what types of systems are there? How green and how efficient are the systems? How will these systems work with the specific needs of their family and will it be as dollar friendly as their budget require?
If you are doing some research on what type of system you want installed in your home or what you want to replace your old system with, check out as many option as you can. There are many options available to you in today’s market, such as Geo Exchange and Radiant. If you feel that a standard system is the best choice for your specific needs, you are not alone, most homes in California are heated and cooled with standard systems. But, they MUST be installed properly. I system can be installed poorly with poor material and low quality equipment making it efficiently disastrous and costly or it can be installed the right way. And here is how we at Crystal Air do it the right way....
We start by running a complete computerized analysis of your home. We take into factor the area that you live, the material used and how your home was built, and what you expect from a heating and cooling system. We do this analysis to ensure the proper size and type of equipment needed for your home. Any contractor that is skipping this part of the installation phase is making a “guesstament” and “guesstatment” will cost you dollars.
After the specifics of the system are nailed down. We implement the actual installation which consists of 2 main component, the duct system and the equipment. Although, we usually can get pretty creative by adding many other different amenities in accordance to your specific needs such as Air Cleaning, Zoning, Radiant floors (see our other pages on this site for more information). So, don’t let yourself be limited, whatever your thinking you would like to have for your home comfort chances are we have done it before in one form or another.
The Duct System:
In the interest on space on this page, I will concentrate on the equipment part of the installation. However, I would encourage you to look at the ducting information on this site to understand the excellent way our ducting systems are created.
The Equipment:
Whether you are looking for a furnace only, Air Conditioning only, Heat and Cooling combination, package unit or Heat Pump, there are a lot of different brands, different SEER rating, different warranties and energy, fuel or resource requirements. And where do you, the homeowner, start to make sure you are getting the most for your money?
Brand:
One of the most asked question is what Brand is the best?
Well there are a few brands we won’t install, just don’t feel they are up to grade, but there are several brands that we feel are good quality pieces of equipment, with good SEER ratings. Heil is the brand we recommend most. We have had good responds from it, and few problems. Also, Coleman, Trane, Goodman, Amana to name a few, are all very good and equipment we would feel very comfortable with.
Seer Rating:
Maybe you have heard the term but just not sure what its about. SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficient Rating. It was put in place in 1970 by the Federal Government. Each piece of equipment has a rating and it can range from 13 to 30. The higher the SEER rating the better the efficiency of the equipment. Often, homeowners that are unaware of this rating will get a “deal” on a piece of equipment only to find out after its installed that the rating is low, not even close to efficient and costing them big money in fuel cost to run it.
Fuel:
The issue of Fuel or resources is a difficult topic to tackle, because it varies so much from county to county, town to town or even area to area. In some places natural gas is a lower cost than propane and electricity. While in others electricity beats fossil fuels by a lot. And this is where that analysis we do comes into play to make sure we are installing the most cost efficient and best system available for your specific home.
Quality:
Lastly, you can have the best equipment and best material and the worst system, determined by workmanship. Good quality equipment that has been properly installed, charged, and performance tested installed with a duct system that is properly constructed, sealed, insulated, and duct blast tested to insure air tightness will deliver warmed and cooled air into your home in the most efficient manner, SAVING you money. However, a system that is poorly installed, unsealed, uninsulated or untested will deliver heated or cooled air out into the attic or basement, COSTING you money.
Its as simple as that.
